You can do serverless computing on Phala by programming and deploying Phat contracts. With “serverless” we mean that you do not need to care about the setup of underlying hardware anymore, and the network will allocate the computing power for you proportional to the PHA token you stake, i.e., stake-to-compute.
Now the Phat Contract Console does not support specifying arguments during contract instantiation
Workaround: you can implement a config(&mut self, argument0, ...) function and set the contract state with transactions after the instantiation
Phat Contract still supports the vanilla on-chain states and transaction processing!

What’s more, all the contract states are encrypted and stored. But when you use these states, the Phat Contract will suffer the gas fee and the low performance just like the existing smart contracts. We explain contract states in the storage section, use them if you really ensure you need these.

For off-chain computation, the recommended way to store your states is to use external storage services. Phat Contract can easily connect to S3-compatible storage services and use them as cheaper and faster off-chain state storage. Explore how to do this in the following section.
